Ulcerative Colitis

Why Panckarma is recommended for Ulcerative colitis?
Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune disease. Panchakarma proved to be most beneficial in any autoimmune disease. Intake of specific herbal formulations for long time after performing Panchakarma treatments gives tremendous result. In this disease we mainly follow Basti (medicated enema) treatment using herbs having immunomodulatory property and which helps in fast tissue healing. Basti also helps to eliminate the toxins out of the body.

Are there any chances of recurrence of BA after this treatment?
Following proper panchakarma and post panchakarma treatment eliminates this condition without any recurrence, post panchakarma treatment for long time we can prevent the recurrence for many years. However chances of recurrence are there depending upon the body type, type of illness, environmental exposures, food habits etc, but by once again following the panchakarma and post panchakarma treatments regulating the disease is possible.

Who can take the above treatment?
This treatment is beneficial for all Ulcerative colitis patients, all IBD conditions including crohn’s disease, chronic colitis etc.

Whether this treatment can be taken along with moder DMRD drugs, who are already under mesicholine, azoran, or TNF alfa inhibitors etc.?
Yes there is no harm in taking these medications along with other allopathic DMRD drugs, on the contrary stopping those DMRD at once may worsen the condition. But we can reduce the dosage of DMRD to maximum possible level and in many patients it is possible to stop the DMRD drugs completely. But we prefer tapering of DMRD’s to prevent aggravation of symptoms.

What is the complete course of treatment for Panchakarma treatment as inpatient?
21 days’ treatment is very essential. But in mild cases we can perform this treatment in 14 days. Long term post panchakarma treatment with Ayurveda herbal extract becomes necessary in almost all patients.
