Paralysis – Stroke

Stroke is one of the main conditions well managed with Ayurveda. In the tradition of Ukkinadkas Ayurveda we have a unique indigenously developed treatment for Stroke. Stroke is a condition which manifests due to lack of blood supply to particular part of brain resulting in cell damage and respective neurological function loss. The main aim of the treatment is to establish, maintain normal blood flow to the brain tissue and rehabilitation by stimulating the central and peripheral nervous system and to encourage maximum possible neuroplasticity.

Types
Ischemic
Hemorhagic

Ischemic:
We manage both Acute and post acute ischemic stroke by Ayurveda management. In mild ischemic stroke it is better to start our treatment immediately and in severe and huge ischemic stroke we can start treatment at Ukkinadkas Ayurveda after stabilization which occurs usually from 3-10 days.

Hemorhagic stroke
We manage both acute and post acute hemorrhagic stroke. But in huge hemorrhagic stroke we suggest initial management with emergency care. Criteria for Ayurveda care is same as in ischemic stroke.

Panchakarma treatments Includes

CENTRASTIM:
A unique Ayurveda treatment followed at Ukkinadkas Ayurveda to encourage neuroplasticity, by which we can achieve immediate change in lost movements in specific cases. Ayurveda special body massage including, Shastikashali Pinda sweda, Masha Pinda Sweda, Annalepana etc, Alepa- Application of herbal paste all over the body, Shiro dhara- Pouring of Medicated oil/decoction/butter milk etc on forehead, Thala dharana- Tying of specific herbal paste to head to minimize anxiety and depression. and all necessary treatments depending upon the condition. Course of the treatment Depending upon the severity of illness the treatment course as inpatient usually extends from 21 days to 75 days.

Prognosis: Response to the treatment though mainly dependent on extent of damage, we have seen many patients recovering from aphasia (inability to speak) even after four years of attack with our treatment. Many patients who were unable to walk till one year after the attack could walk after our management. We start the treatment with a CENTRASTIM (stimulating the brain), a traditional formula which encourages neuroplasticity by stimulating brain centers. In almost all cases we get the hint of possible improvement within a week of CENTRASTIM treatment.
