Why Panchakarma treatment for Migraine headache?
Patients with migraine headache are benefited by Shirodhara, pouring of herbal medicated oil over forehead for 7 days and Virechana, purging treatment followed by Nasya (nasal medication) treatment. Most of the patients with chronic migraine headache are benefited by the above treatment. According to Ayurveda migraine headache is caused mainly by Pitta and Vata vitiation. Measures that normalize the doshik vitiation are mainly conducted. Along with the above treatment we also follow Pinda sweda with whole body massage using herbal medicated oil. Depending upon the specific body type and type of illness the treatment may vary.

Is Panchakarma treatment Mandatory to cure Migraine headache?
No, Panchakarma is not mandatory. Even without Panchakarma treatment we can successfully treat Migraine headache in outpatient level. But in long standing and very chronic migraine headaches Panchakarma procedures proved to be better than use of only herbal formulations.

What is the complete course of treatment for Panckakarma treatment as inpatient and post panchakarma treatment as out patient?
Admission for 7 – 21 days’ Panchakarma is required depending upon the severity of illness. After the Panchakarma it is advisable to continue with the specific herbal combinations for the period of 3 to 6 months depending up on the response..
